You can find some beautiful and unique Christmas gifts at the Winter Market, part of Bankside Winter Festival. Browse more than 40 stalls to find handmade jewellery, fine ceramics and Christmas crafts.

There's also festive food on offer and a bar serving mulled wine and ale to keep up the Christmas cheer!

Huskies and Hikes at Bankside Winter Festival

Ever dreamed of taking travelling by sleigh? Well now you can! A team of Siberian huskies are giving sled rides to under 12s for just £5. For everyone else, there's the chance to "Hug a Husky" for a special photo.

Over the festival, a series of Frost Fair guided walks are also taking place. The tours are a great way to learn more about the connection between Bankside and the River Thames, plus the area's rich theatrical history.

While you're in the neighbourhood, make a day of it and check out some of the area's many great attractions.

About the Frost Fair in London

Frost Fairs have been taking part in London since 1607. The tradition began when exceptionally cold winters caused the Thames to freeze. Londoners would take to the ice to enjoy a huge range of events. In those days, the Frost Fair was pretty dangerous, as many Londoners fell through the ice and drowned.

Milder winters ended this tradition in 1814, but the spirit of the Frost Fair lives on today, thankfully with all the fun taking place on dry land!
