Leeds German Christmas Market

Leeds Christkindelmarkt is one of the largest and most established German Christmas markets in the UK, with traditional wooden stalls, festive greenery, Christmas carousel rides and twinkling colourful lights all creating a unique continental style festive atmosphere in the heart of the city centre.

First established in 2002 and returning to Millennium Square for a seventh consecutive season, Christkindelmarkt attracts many hundred thousands of visitors to Leeds city centre each year and forms an integral part of the city’s annual events programme.

The market consists of over 30 wooden chalet stalls from authentic German traders providing a wide range of seasonal gift ideas for everyone including; handcrafted toys, jewellery, Christmas cards and festive decorations, speciality foods and traditional German delicacies such as gluhwein, bratwurst sausages, soups, stollen, gingerbread and candied fruits.

To compliment the market stalls and enhance the overall visitor experience at the event, an adjoining festive funfair provides fun for all the family including a traditional Christmas Carousel, a large scale dodgems and a selection of small children's rides.

The ever popular 'Frankfurter Scheune' provides an authentic bier-keller experience with real German bier and specialist food menu and regular musical entertainment.

Live entertainment for 2008 features a new authentic German Showband (every evening between Friday 14th to Sunday 23rd November) and the popular Herr Jens Bavarian Oompah Band (playing every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoon from Thursday 27th November).

* 'Frankfurter Scheune' bier-keller and selected stalls open late until 11.00pm
